The Fleet is Off to Hollywood, FL

While the fleet was off, so was I. The Tybee website had it as a noon start. I was on the way to Islander and saw all these boats going north as I was crossing a bridge. And then it dawned on me -- They started at 10AM

Winds are out of the southeast at around 7-8 mph. I observed the fleet from around Tavernier in the Keys and they were still under main and jib.., no spinnakers in sight as the angle was still to close to use one.

The islands begin turning more northerly between Tavernier and Key Largo where you will start to see the kites popping out. Once the spinnakers come into play the boats should gain some more speed. If so, they could arrive in Hollywood by 5PM, but my guess is it will be later than that.

A little problem has happened to our traveling plans. The Catsailor RV refused to start despite charging the batteries all night long. So, it has been a busy afternoon finding batteries and installing them. Once done, no problem...

Yes, there was a problem.., the tranmission would not work. Spend the rest of the afternoon tracking down someone, anyone that could work on a transmission. And, in the Keys. Not an easy task.

But, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. I should be repaired by late this evening. Which means I will be there in Hollywood for the start of the second leg.

Please forgive me! But don't forgive that stupid Motorhome!

The tracking, which is an awesome idea and has become now affordable, is being implemented by a handful of teams.

Our bus will be leaving the Keys at about 0500 to be certain and be at the start in the morning. Stand by and check the hotline.
