Yesterday at Humpybong in 8-12kn of breeze the Viper finished in front of the "A"s in 2 of the 3 races. It was slower upwind, but dynamite downwind. In those conditions the "A"s usually spank the F18... So, what i'm getting at is... The F17 numbers are similar to the Viper, 1 foot longer but 20-25kgs heavier and 'similar' sail areas... I'd think that a well sailed F17 up to about 15kn+ (when the F18 is starting to power up) would do well, over that the single handed F17 will struggle against the power to weight and waterline length... Ask me in a couple of weeks
