We get lots of windy days in Oklahoma like that, say 18 gusting to 25 or maybe a bit more, anything over that and your just going to break the boat or your butt.(when they wrote the wind goes whipping down the plains, they wern't bullshiting) We sail on this little lake in Oklahoma City that's a lot like sailing in the mouth of a Volcano, no obstructions and some honking wind. Skipping off the top of waves and rounding up in the puffs. Wicked cool to say the least. I love the part where you get hammered by a puff and when you pull the tiller back to you it's like standing on the gas pedal of a Corvette, the boat just leaps into the air. Many times we have a bunch of people gather at the resurants to watch, waiting for a great wipeout. Sometimes they get them, sometimes they don't, but when they do I can honestly say it's crew error. Now I'm not taking my girl out in that but my crew is a nutcase so we raise a little hell whenever we can. But over say 26 with a square top and we're heading for the barn rapidly.
