I am bored at work, with not much to do. Do you have any specific pet peeves?

Me - well it drives me insane crazy when people call a LINE as a rope!! <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />GRRRTT! <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />
It is not a rope! Its a freaking line! a rope is a line on a spool on display in the store, not doing anything, just sitting there! That is a rope. Once a piece of that rope is cut off, for any particular reason, that section of the rope is now a line. It has a reason to be, a reason to measure xx of inches/feet/millimeters/meters WHATEVER!

DO NOT CALL A LINE A ROPE! that is a capital SIN! <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

So the piece of "rope" that I cut off to use as a belt is now a "line"? <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Guys/Gals:

I hate when people get caught up in the small stuff and don't look at the WHOLE picture. Like what Carlton said in your book Mary. "GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE BOAT"!!! Friend Stephanie May and another are taking your course in April. She should come back a HOTSHOT (LOL).

Sadly you are out of luck, you cannot add to a sheet, you will have to replace it. LOL <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

While rigging, nobody are allowed to step on anything sailing related. [censored] to those who manage to step on our rigging or ropes. Err.. lines.

A "helpful person" once managed to punch a hole in one of the hulls while helping us pull the boat up up a ramp. We absolutely refuse help handling the boat on land after that incident. Oh yes, did you know that Marstrøm use honeycomb paper in his Tornado hulls.. Paperboats..

Serious: People who complain about race committees. They should have to BE the race committee. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Not so serious: Bob Curry. It is rude to disappear over the horizon while racing. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

So are you saying a line is a length of rope?

Not entirely but somewhat. A length of a line could be anything. Even when the rope is on the spool, its measures XXXft/mts.

What I am saying with my petpeeve is, once a section of the rope is cut off for a reason, its no longer a rope. It is a line. More like a "TOOL" its stop being a rope is now a line, that will be used on something and it now serves a purpose.

"A line is a length of rope, BUT it is NOT a rope"

......and I thought you didn't necessarily know what you were talking about Robi! <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
