Anyone use that app yet? How'd it work for you?

Yup, I liked it; does some neat stuff, but I think I like Kattack better.

Buzzelli regatta is asking all sailors to use that, too. So I may end up using it. If only to show how poorly I navigate...

I'm not a fan of putting my phone on a catamaran...but I don't mind on my J22 where there are usually several dry spots even after a big windy day.

the phone touts that it is "waterproof" (yeah, right), however I'm sure it will reside in a waterproof bag ... preferably in the cabin if I can get GPS signals down there.

As an alternative they said you could upload your Garmin or Magellin GPS file to their group site. sheeewt, that's too high-tech for me.

Good luck trying to find a dry area on your F18 even in light air...

I've used it and it is pretty cool. cool The winds were light and fluky and we could see how we failed to tack on several headers. I recommend trying it. I used a waterproof phone bag on the tramp inside a small gear bag. I turned on the app before the first signal and left the phone on all day. I might shut off the app between races next time just to avoid extraneous data that you'll want to delete.

I agree with SeanT. Myself and two other boats used it in Sarasota last month, and for a free app it worked pretty well. Did not kill the battery at all and recorded for 4 hours. Then it automatically matches with other boats that uploaded for easy race watching on your computer.

Could re-watch races and totaly see where opportunities were missed. It also shows the other boats, so its like watching virtual eye from the americas cup.

Lifeproof case for the phone (Iphone) and that in a small pelican case.

And don't forget to tighten the loose nut at the top of your mast...
