just thought you might all like the chance to beat F16's on your Mossies , why leave all the fun to Neil ,Tim and Peter.

As you may have read, the F16's due to the Mossies generosity are going to join the Mossies with Spinnaker in holding their state titles at Somers Nov. 15/16. If you would like to join the recently formed Australian F16 Association, you will also be eligible for a F16 result . Two regattas for the price of one, you can't lose.

But seriously, it only costs $25. and you will be part of a catamaran association which is about to become recognized by th International Saling Association Federation, all we need is a couple more members, already there are a number of Mossie sailors that are members. It is easy to join, just go to the F16 website and click on Australian Membership. You can pay by credit card or PayPal or just let me know and you can send a cheque. Wouldn't Mozzie sailors be better off not joining?

F16 yardstick is 71.5, Mozzie with spinnaker yardstick is 80.

If a Mozzie with spinnaker sailor wins a race using 80 and is not a member of F16 there can be no argument to use the lower handicap of 71.5(F16). If the Mozzie with spinnaker sailor is a F16 member then they are open to protest particularly if the Mozzie is signwritten as an F16.

I have heard that little saying before. I will make it simple. I will say what I like, when I like and to whomever I wish to say it to. You know were I am if you have a problem with that.

What possible relevance could membership of an association have to a handicap? That is really bizarre thinking.

Sorry, but your Mozzie is accepted as an F16 under the F16 rules Darryn - whether or not you put a spinnaker up. Does that mean you have to sail on 71.5? Of course not. The same goes for many other classes that would fit within the F16 box rule.

What it means is you can join the F16s, race against them at their events and take home the trophy if you win. Three Mosquitos had a ball racing at the F16 VIC states at Portland earlier this year. Sure we didn't win, we didn't expect to, that wasn't the point of going. The point was to enjoy the race - which we did.

Gary, there will be about 3 maybe 4 mossies rigged with kites soon ( straight after the nationals) at our club in SA (close enough to the border to sail with the Vics) and all will probably join the F16's assoc.
I will wait and see how many other SA boats follow but one of the attractions for me returning to Mossies from A's was the kite and at least....excited.

And there is my 2 bob's worth for what it is worth.

I don't have a spi yet.
There are a fair few mozzies with spi out there now. What Darren could be getting at is why put money into a class when this money could be put into building up the exposure and class that is mozzie with spi.
In my opinion F16 and mozzie are a fair way appart in speed. (If sailors ability is the same)
This dosent mean you shouldent support F16 if you wish.
But in my oppinion Unless you are planning to race in F16 exclusive events then why not support the national mozzie association with your $25 (im sure they can put it to good use)
How many mozzies with kites are there now?
