As a youngster my Dad had a Couger cat- Fast (compare to the local mono's) and a firehose dousing when the breeze came up. Same type of solid bridgedeck as the Shark. The deck being lower than the hull decks made for a comfortable seating arrangement.

I like the idea of a family cat that is 20x10 that you can fold to trailer. Add a squaretop and spin, a trap...

And wood boats are sweet.

My first cat ride was on a Cougar too....and I remember really getting wet.

Then they brought the Thai 4 to the club and that was better. My dad and I went to the Gibbs plant once to see the Sharks being built. Sometime later, the whole place burnt to the ground.

Sharks are still very cool. Especially the woodies.

I remember reaching on Lake Murray with big white caps, so blowing over 15 and the sheets of water coming off the hulls were at times going clear over the boat. And when you were hit it felt like a high pressure hose was turned on you.

I used to have a cougar. As a matter of fact I loaned Mary a couple years worth of old newsletters to copy, I'm not sure if she ever did. That was a fun boat but HEAVY. I almost flipped it a couple of times, and knew if I had, it would have been all over. We had 12 adults out on it one time. I sold/gave it to a friend.

If a man is to be obsessed by something.... I suppose a boat is as good as anything... perhaps a bit better than most.

Strange you mentioned me. Haven't had one since 1972. Still have ties with them and our Put-in-Bay Yacht Club is hosting their Nationals again this year (did it in 1972, 2006. and again in 2009)
Understand the piano. When Brian and Chris Perrin showed up for the Midwinters a few years ago, it was so beautiful, I asked him, "OK, where is the key board?" smile

My friend just picked one up out of a storage unit auction. Maybe he can get it together for the Nationals as he is in Michigan.

The last time I saw a "Shark" was two years ago at the Cambridge Yacht Club, Cambridge Md. at their Annual Regatta in July. I don't know his name but he could sail fast ... And the boat looked just like the picture posted .... was that you ?????

And if it was, then I know you as I helped you "pull" the boat out on Sunday after the races ....

Strangely enough there are two ads in our Classifieds Page sent in back to back, and not related.

There is group of them in the NE. The Virginia Beach fleet sponsored the Shark Nationals for several years up until this past year and ran it with their Sail the Bay event. They would have about 6-10 show up each year.

They were fun to watch and did great when the wind picked up. I really had a lot more respect for them when I saw how they preformed in 25+ and lots of chop. The conditions got so bad 2 years ago that I bailed out of a couple of races on my H16 since I had my 10 year old daughter crewing with me. The Sharks stayed out there were pretty solid. I was amazed how fast they were.
