Clearwater Community Sailing Center Carlisle Classic Regatta 2011
November 19th and 20th

I'm going to be sailing in the regatta. We are expecting somewhere between 3-8 Waves so far, and I'd love it if more people could come and experience the great atmosphere of the Clearwater Community Sailing Center.

If you show up, look me up!

It looks like we have 7 waves signed up to race. I'm one of them, are you?

Last time we raced there it was in the Gulf. The Waves had to fight the current to get back in with light air. Consequently missed the awards. 3 Wave sailors never sailed again.
Will it be in harbor or gulf?

I was told the racing would be in Clearwater Bay, but the NOR mentions both the bay and the gulf. I'll have to ask and get back to you.

I know that the last Laser regatta there had over 40 boats and they were towed out to the gulf. If the race is in the gulf, I expect we would get towed.

Rick, I asked about where the Waves will be racing. I was told they would be racing in Clearwater Bay, not in the Gulf of Mexico. They are currently expecting at least 7 Waves to be on the water.

I sent out an e blast to all the emails I have for Waves in South Florida.
Not sure I can make. Problem I have is now that I sold my RV, got no where to stay.., and I think lodging is really expensive there.

We had 8 Waves at the start line for the Carlisle Classic this year. All were club boats except for Mike Powers who came into town for the race and brought his own boat. Mike won by a long-shot with bullets across the board. CJ Bast came in second in almost every race (with one 3rd and one 4th place finish.) Your's truly was third over all with two 2nd place finishes and 3rd place otherwise. For the rest of the fleet, the deciding factor was more on how many races they finished than what place they came in (all of us except Mike were new to regatta racing.)

Wind was 10-15mph with occasional gusts up to 20 and steady out of the NE both days. The food was great and Mike gave CJ and I lots of tips on how to improve our sailing and be more of a challenge for him (even while we were on the water! He's a great guy.)

A great time was had by all, and hopefully our club will be able to make a better showing of itself next time and more outsiders will come give us a challenge!

Pics!

WAVE RAVE, Feb. 18-19 at Clearwater Sailing Center

How many Wave regulars are headed to this event? It sounds like a lot of fun.

Rick, can you send out another blast?
