Carolina version of Low Rent????

I miss that race, with Chick's Beach Sailing Center (Tyler Smith, RIP), Neil Brock, Hans Meijer, Bill Black... and the rest of Flt 32.

That was a great race. They still do a race they call the "Version 7 (or whatever year they are doing)which is out around the islands and back. But they don't have the 3,000 + parties.
we did one here around the island I live on for a couple years, before a couple of hurricanes screwed our schedule up. Problem is no one would come up to do it, sedentary bastards.
I guess we could put on a Steeplechase type event ,down the sound, out Hatteras inlet and back up the ocean but it would have to include Cape Hatteras, that would be fun. That was the best part of the Worrell.

And there is one or more regattas practically every weekend of the year (with the possible exception of August). It tends to dilute the fleets with so many regattas and venues. It's too easy to say "yeah I could kill myself this weekend, but it will be just as nice next weekend....I'll race then"

Ding - why the decision to go Acat? I'm scratching coins together and debating what my next boat would be given the following criteria:
- must fit in garage (max 18' length with swing-tounge trailer)
- good training for crewing on OPB
- decent fleet racing within reasonable distance of house (say, Tampa/Orlando south)

I'm thinking either F16 or Acat, but I'm sure there might be other things that would work...

The Duck Cup is a possibility, it's always about time and $$.

June is a good time of year for me too.

I'm still having a lot of fun with the F18 so my A plans keep getting pushed. I like the A-cat not for the boat but for the fleet. They are well organized and seem to get boats on the line fairly consistently in FL and there is a lot of talent in the fleet. For now, I plan to sail the F18 until Mark gets tired of sailing with me.

My record so far for the A winter series is 0 and 2 but I'm hoping to make Admiral's cup at DIYC in March. How 'bout it?

Looks like I'm penciling in Admiral's cup this year...Can Ding find an A-cat?

I believe there are a few members at DIYC or at least local that have extra boats, if he was inclined.
