I've tried calling a few Hobie dealers in the Miami area to see if they have any used Waves for sale but no luck. If anyone has one for sale please get in touch with me. I don't care what year as long as it's sailable. Thanks.

I called keysailing in Pensacola and he has two 2001 Waves. If I buy a boat it has to get to Miami in the long run and the fellow I spoke with said Pensacola is 12 hours from Miami. It didn't sound like they delivered, I'll have to keep looking for something closer. Thanks.

Keep in mind that Kirk (Pensacola dealer) usually comes to the Wave Nationals the first week in December at Key Largo and perhaps he could do so and leave one for you. Perhaps you could even sail in the Nationals.

Some other folks you might try are Caribbean Water Sports 305-852-4707and Bump and Jump in Islamorada 305-664-9404 (both in the Keys)
Good luck,
Rick

Terry I called keysailing again and they are getting back to me with a price. I should hear from them by Thursday but it wouldn't hurt for you to call them. There is a little work involved for you if this is to work. Talk to you later. Dale.

Dale,

I bought a used Club Wave from Kirk this Spring. I drove to Pensacola from the N. Houston area (500 miles). Kirk was great to work with and he offered a nice discount because I was willing to drive the long distance. My wife and I planned to make a mini-vacation. I was able to first time sail for an entire afternoon but left when the war in Iraq broke out the next day. I've been sailing the Wave around Lake Conroe since. Been having a great time and am now ready to start learning more. I've flipped three times and learned it sails much better if one remembers to put the plugs back in. Much easier to recover over our bulkhead too without the extra water weight.

Pete

Hi Terry, just a quick note to let you know that Keysailing in Pensacola took care of our Wave needs. We bought the boat you and I talked about and Sawyer dropped it off at Hyde Shipping in Miami for us. From there it went to Roatan Honduras were we sailed it on our three week vacation. The story ends with us selling it to a group of people who live there and had never sailed a Hobie before. They loved it and why not it was a fantastic boat, that's the four of us sitting on it with it's brand new shiny sail. We didn't make any money on the boat but breaking even on something like this was all we needed. The people we sold it to have been in touch and might even want us to bring another one next year. We told them we would or we'd bring parts to tune up "Blue", they changed the name to "Skinny Dipper". I might even sell my 18 and buy a Wave and get a Hooter off Rick if I can convince my better half. Take care and happy wet-butt sailing.

I had to come back and post an update on Blue. The four of us went back to Roatan a couple of weeks ago and ran into the people we sold the Wave to. Ron started telling us about these cams he needed changed so we jumped all over that and offered to do it for him. He was quite happy to have us make the service call as he had never seen it done. We drilled out the rivets, cleaned the sand out of the springs installed the new cams with the two piece screws and reset the tension screws. A quick look around the boat had us tightening the tramp and shroud wires. They had taken the mast off and reinstalled it sitting on the ball but sitting on the pin. We removed the pin and dropped the mast down in the proper place and reinstalled the pin. When we had finished Ron let us take it for a sail. We had it out for two hours and had a ball cruising up and down the shoreline of West Bay beach with a cooler of Salva Vida. Beer never tasted better than the frosty ones on Service Call 2006.
