Word is Round the Island is off for this year. Anyone interested in an alternative? Start near Key Sailing, sail west, around Perdido Key, back to Key Sailing. About 70 miles, 18 or so in the Gulf. Locally this course has been talked about for years, 2 tricky passes and a smooth water, downwind run to the finish. We'll put it on if y'all come. We only have 4 1/2 weeks so we need to hear back soon. Saturday, June 23rd.

if it is indeed off this year, is there a particular reason? I didn't think attendance was a problem at this race, and the oil spill doesn't seem to be a problem anymore...

Is it because they're skert of Ding showing up again?

I'd do it, I'd do RTI for that matter but it conflicts with the Daytona Summer Sizzler and I need/want to attend the Sizzler because they attend our regatta.

This is a big sled, franken boat classic and it also allows single handed rigs how can this regatta be canceled due to lack of interest? It also offers one of the most unique and picturesque courses I've experienced. RTI cancellation is simply unacceptable!

I was planning to race RTI, I would be interested in the alternative but would rather do RTI.
