Hey would anyone be able to provide photos of their jib sheet/traveller systems..i'm still very unsure as to how it all goes?

Thanks for the reply...the purple rope( jib sheet ) is cleated where?
Am i right in saying that if i used the swivel cleat traceller system than i would have two swivel cleats on each side.One on the jib traveller track for the sheet and one on the cross bar?

There are a couple of different options for the jib sheet.

You can lead it though a swivel cleat mounted on the crossbar (not shown in the diagrams - which answers your second question). Or you can have a combined traveller/cleat (like the photo right next to the diagram).

Which way you do it is up to you. I've had both systems and they work about the same. The only difference is you get a consistent sheet angle with the fixed cleat.

As for the traveller cleats, I think the swivel cleats are total overkill. They're heavy, they're expensive, they get in the way and they don't get used a whole lot. Lance cleats or small, fixed cam cleats are the way to go.

I still have the hobie combined traveller/cam cleat for the jib sheet (is this the fixed angle option you were talking about?)
You speak of the cleat for the traveller system not being used much...i was under the impression that the traveller was used alot (to open and close the slot and to help control pitch poling?)

Also where is the ideal position fot the lance or fixed cam cleat...side bar or as in the pic on the crossbr?

Hey Scott, If you are still having probs sorting out the jib traveller, go down and see the dudes at Takapuna sailing. They are a helpful bunch of guys. Will have you sorted in no time. There are quite a few Hobie sailors in Auckland who could help you out, to get your boat set up so you can get the most out of it. Again the boys at Takapuna will give you the contacts.

Thanks mate, appreciate the heads up. Takapuna sailing( aka boat bits) have kinda put me off a bit , first time i was there i was treated very poorly (in my opinion) and they are also very expensive. Charging $1100 for a new trampoline is ridiculous! Especially when you can get them from aussie for close to half that price.

Well, i take that back, just made contact with them again and was pleasently surprised!
They were very helpful and have pointed me in the right direction.

Ouch $1100. i Had a mate who is a upholsterer in wanaka make me one for $300. Its not as nice as the new hobie ones with the sealed edges. It works like a new one.

Checked the pages indicated. Looks promissing. Seems a far better Hobie catalog than we can obtain from our Hobie dealers (Holland - Europe). Do you have more information where to get a copy or maybe we can download it somewhere? Good information is difficult to find (or am I looking at the wrong places??) Thanks anyway!
