I just recieved a new self tacking jib track for my Nacra/Inter20. It's the new style that pivots up and down rather than remaining in a fixed position as the older styles were designed. I'm wondering how far foward to mount this on the front beam. The profile of the beam is in the shape of a D with the rounded edge facing forward. Should I mount the track half way up the leading edge, 3/4's the way up or on top of the beam?

Jake, you had a lot of good information about mounting yours on the team seacats website, but I didn't see where you actually mounted it.

There are some additional pictures starting at the link below. Be sure to scroll left and right as there are some additional pictures separated by some hull pictures.

I'll also take a measurement this evening to get you something to go by...You might want to wait until I assemble the boat later this week to make certain the measurement is right - I feel good about it but who knows. I copied the measurements from my F18 that has the same beam extrusion.

Also note that the tacker is not necessarily symetrical and that the outer two pins are longer than the rest. I first generally measured and marked the locations for the T-mounts but discovered that they wouldn't line up with the tacker. I had to hold the tacker in place while I scribed the line marking each mounting leg and then riveting the t-mounts to those marks.

Using a tape measure, if you put the end-tab in the extruded groove in the top of the beam, measure forward 1.75" and that is where the line was that marked the top of the t-mounts on both my F18 and the I20. I might be able to get the jib up tonight and look at the angles.

sorry for taking over this thread...but I rigged the jib tonight and I would say that measurement is right. I can get a decent range of adjustment (extreme in both directions) on the jib sheeting angle.
