The Red Army sings Sweet Home Alabama. Something ironic about this. I'm not sure why.

Do you suppose that's what they think Americans really look and act like?

I always get a kick out of how Americans are depicted on British TV shows. Everyone wears a Stetson and talks like John Wayne. I crack up whenever I hear a Brit do an American accent, like Hugh Laurie on "House".

I thought Hugh Laurie does a pretty good American accent!

You think that's funny? You should spend Christmas Eve in Japan listening to a rock cover band that doesn't speak English.

Well, whole thing pretty much started as a Finnish comedy movie Leningrad Cowboys go America about a russian band going to US because they couldn't play rock at home, director was Aki Kaurismäki so it's "little bit" peculiar. After the movie band continued to live, all of the actors were actually part of another band they just switched their name and put on their Leningrad cowboys costumes, played lot of classic rock songs. Movie was made 20 years ago and the USSR was still there, at the point that red army was part of the show 16 or 17 years ago it was really amazing how fast things changed, btw they switched their grey boring costumes at the same time to something more colorfull too. Anyway, all this had more to do with the East than the US wink.

Being a hair metal band freak from the 80s, we used to rock out (and saw in concert opening for Motley Crue on Theater of Pain) to a band from Japan called 'Loudness'
They didn't speak a word of english when talking between songs, but either could anyone from the Scorpions.......
