A very upsetting thing is happening that is not good for Put-in-Bay. While it is not sailing or boating it is vital to the community.
Could you send out an email regardingh the following problem:
While this may not deal with boat/sailing and YC business, it is important to the community of Put-in-Bay.
As many of you may know PIBYC members Jack Woehrle and Rick White met with Mayor Mac McCann of Put-in-Bay and they came up with the idea of bringing back the road races of yore on Put-in-Bay. The island is about the only track still in existence from those days, while places like Elkhorn have condos and such built on them.
By popular demand the vintage race cars have for the last two years put on time trials and simulated races on the airport. And the Port Authority told the organization (SVRA) that they could in 2012 have regular racing on the track.
So SVRA went ahead with the plans.., and you must know there is much to do to pull off this enormous undertaking, i.e. , bunkers, haybales, portapotties, and the list goes on. Meanwhile, there are competitors, fans and followers from all over the USA that have already booked rooms and made plans
This event could brings thousands and thousands of visitors to our little island, along with lots of money.
But, due to an engineer‘s report, all of the issues, by the way, have been totally debunked, has the board just sitting there and not making a decision. The decision was already made last year. It takes a year to plan such a great event. Thus making SVRA put everything needlessly on hold.
I urge each and every one of you to email members of the board to OK this event and let the SVRA do what they do best.
