Daniel/Eric Jacobsen End up 4th, John Lovell/Charlie Ogletree in 5th at
Miami Olympic Regatta
There was finally wind on the last day giving the boats
a fun ride. Both the top U.S. Teams had fairly good finishes and remained
in the top five an all-star cast of sailors. Hagara of Austria won, and
Lange of Argentina was 2nd, Revile of France was 3rd. On a sad note, a
report from one of the coach boats says the regatta was disaster -- the
fleet was crammed into a tight area and the boats kept going aground at
either end of the course. Too bad! So many great sailors there too. Click

Daniel/Enrique Rodriguez (Tornado) Dominate/Win the Steeplechase!
They took off with a big lead at the start and extended
it . There was no one in sight when this boat crossed the line and the
next boat was 35 minutes behind. An awesome display. They won both The
Olde Lawn Chair for line honors and the Rick White Perpetual for best
corrected time.

It was nip-and-truck racing the last day of the regatta, with Phillips
and Tracy Oliver swapping positions and even finishing one race in a tie.
But Phillips persevered, sniffed out the shifts better and took the victory.
Oliver settled for 2nd place and John Shiefer grabbed 3rd spot.

With races canceled yesterday (Sunday) due to storms and severe winds,
the sailors were hot to trot this morning. Bob Hodges and WF Oliver held
on to their lead after Tomko/Pierce were forced to retire with a broken
gooseneck. Brian Lambert and Jamie Livingston made a big comeback to take
2nd overall.
