"Is it typical to only sail two races a day and only one on Friday?" As mentioned, it totally depends on the class (and sometimes, to the event). Here are some more examples:

If there are supplied boats with rotation, you'll have less racing because of the time required for the equipment swapping (assuming they change boats between each race, and that they go back to the beach to do that, some classes use docks, etc.).

The Olympic events have two races per day scheduled. You can run up to three in any one day, but you can never be more than one race ahead in the overall schedule.

You're absolutely right though, if you're trying to keep everyone happy, that's a key piece of information for the RC to nail down (and publish) before the event... <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
