Dr. Dan,
You may be interested to know that I have been doing some R&D work on a device very analogous to the Furr-Berger, simply called The Snapper. I have also noticed the monthly maintenance issues and the fickle operating software. Testing has shown that the software glitches can be moderated in a three step process that starts with application of soft floral material, either red or white (pink seems ineffective), then progressing to liberal applications of green paper and finally to an infusion of a composite device consisting of small hard mineral deposits embedded in mine-derived metal alloy. The composite device, while the most costly, has proven to be recoverable when the operating software finally crashes and attempts to re-boot. Though recovery of the composite device has been shown to be somewhat problematic as the return is usually at high velocity and accompianied by peripheral devices such as shoes and china.
By the way, thanks for dumping Mr. Martin. He is hooking me up with US$10M in Nigerian oil contracts! Ha, ha sucka ...!
