This style (pic below) seems great to me (no need to tape the line to the fid since it has a hook)... but hard to find... any cons to this style?

I eBay'd a set from the UK and they work very well. The wand is probably good for splicing but i don't see how it would go replacing the core of a rope. The Selma works like a rat up a drain pipe!
