I'm back after taking a several year break from sailing and boat building. Work on the TMS-20 has been at a standstill I ran out of the two main ingredients – Time and Money (both at the same time). I though starting a new business would afford me both guess I was wrong I never seemed to get the equation figured out.
I stopped sailing to work on the TMS-20 and my G-Cat 5.7 fell into disrepair so I’ve decided to fix up the old girl and get it back in the water. Too much work and not enough salt water. Hopefully in the next year or so work I can start on the TMS-20 again.
So right now I have two projects going foremost is get back on the water with the G-Cat and secondly is a small project of building a catamaran style floating motorized lounge chair with a build in beer cooler. I have the hull molds built for the prototype of the lounge chair. I thought I might document the restoration of the G-Cat if there is an interest.
Work to be done –
Strip off automotive type paint from hulls down to gel coat
Repair spider cracks
Repair some major cracks where beams mount
Reinforce soft spots in decks - inside hull and outside
Make new rigging
Add captured ball mast step and shroud extenders – supercat style
May add self-tacking jib
Re Gel Coat boat
I’ve already taken the boat apart and starting stripping the hulls.
