Hey Paul:

I wouldn't worry about it. Normally sailors that put on the furlers do so because they want to make everything easier; you won't find it necessary to trim the jib while you're on the wire. You can't race a Hobie 16 because the furling system is not legal, and you no longer have a legal jib. Even when we were racing the 16, we adjusted the jib very little; once you have the correct slot opening (via traveler and jib sheet), you just sort of kept it there. In high winds, the traveler will get you out of trouble, and the mainsheet will lower the boat in the puffs.
