Number 8 is a good reminder. We were out in light conditions practicing jibing the spinnaker. Our heads were so in the boat we did not see a storm approaching. I finally noticed a wind shift. 2 min later bam. Thunder, Lightning, high winds and huge rain drops.

Now when there seems to be a real possibility of a storm, I always remind the other skippers to keep their eye on the sky.

If we had looked up once in those 2-3 hours I am sure we would have noticed.

For some reason the weather man around here was predicting thunder storm almost every other day the whole summer and we probably had two. Really crying wolf…
