A north breeze of 10-15 w/gusts into the 20's and temps in the lower 60's, greeted sailors from all over the southeast and midwest. Nice fleet of about 15 I-20's and an open class of 4 F-18's, 1-I17, couple 6.0's, a P-19,and an F18HT, burned through 4 blistery races. Several teams ran into equipment issues, and a few went for a swim (Brrrr...). BBQ and flaming hot mudbugs aimed to recharge a well deserved appetite this evening. Big thanks to the RC for sticking in there with the shifty breeze.

A bit lighter breeze forecasted for tomorrow, with temps back into the 60.

Results and pics should come up in the next couple days.

What's the problem with you Florida boys ... temps in the 60's....

Frostbite got cancelled today (Chesapeake) because of snow showers, wind to 30k and a high temp of 33.... (problem was the wind to 30Ks) We would KILL for temps in the 60's right about now!

Yep, swim... yep equipment issue. Was surprised nothing broke up till now really. I am surprised that it was the mainsail that tore just from sheet tension though.

Did you add a 10-1 mainsheet or is your crew a weight lifter? Or is that the original main sail?

It was a 9.1 mainsheet on the HT, don't have the 6.0 anymore. There is no way that would have happened on the main I had for the 6.0. One of the 6.0s theere did blow out the top of their main though... sad... but they did REALLY well for being on the boat for such a short time- hell, did well for being on the boat for months.
Original sail which is seriously dissappointing given that it is a fast sail. Talking with Lambert- he said that there was a problem at that spot on some of the original sails. The one we got to replace it for today was goofy and we have some work to do on the luff track.
Did better today (finished both races and nothing really broke, unless the track cracked a little.. great.... $$$$$)

Beautiful Day 2 brought a modest 6-12 knot breeze out of the ESE, RC got off 2 races then called it thinking the breeze would shift/lighten/die. Crews made it ashore in time to de-rig and eat a late lunch, prior to trophies and a chance at an early start to journeys homeward.

A light listing of results has - (I-20) 1 - Alex/Nigel, 2 - Mike Hill/Holly, 3 - Key Sailing Team 2, (F18) 1 - Kelly/Ollie, 2 - Team Miller, 3 - JMac/Margo, 4 - JWill/Kevin, (Open) 1 - Bobcat..... More to follow.

T-Tybee broke the main traveler in Race 2 and didn't come back out until Sunday morning.

Hi, all. I had a blast in the open class. Figured out last time I sailed a beach cat was in 1989. My crew and I learned a lot about the 6.0, the main is repairable, but have to get one any way (the missus approves too!). Thanks to all who showed up in the open fleet, and all who stuck it out. Kudos to the RC for doing a great job and making it a tactical regatta (I think they moved the start/finish line each and every race). Kudos to the F18 we kept getting into port/starboards with (four times), I learned how to get off the wire quickly because of them, but getting on the wire is a whole other story. Bob, you owe me one for letting you in at that top mark. Patrick, thanks for the spare jib. Thanks to Sabre Sails for getting me a new jib in time for the regatta, it is great jib! Looks like we will be seeing more of you all around the coast in a month or so after we fix the boat, trailer, sails, back, gut, feet, hand, ........
