I am getting ready to go on about a 5 hour trip and I was wondering how to protect the hulls from rocks hitting the hulls and all the grim while trailering. I did a search and most things were about the trailer itself.

hmm I would think only thing you could do is hull covers, and just be careful where/what you're driving on.

I've actually never thought about it..

Take a paint roller and dish soap, and paint a layer of soap onto the hulls. When you get where you are going just wash off the soap and all the grime will come off with it.

That takes care of the grim, but what about any rocks coming up and hitting the hulls.

I have never had any trouble with it, but with your nice shiny hulls it might be more of a worry. Also I am never on dirt road.

You can't beat tailored hull covers, but if you want a 'quick and dirty' fix that'll keep off all but the worst, then just ClingFilm the hulls. You can even embalm some protection - like cardboard - into it around the areas that might be prone to stone chipping.

Get a giant mudflap for your tow vehicle. I've got one that mounts to the reciever hitch that goes from one side of my pick up to the other. Two bolts puts it on. I don't remember what it cost.

Might try taking some old blankets and tying them to the front hulls?

Just an idea. Sorry I can't be there.

be care full anything you wrap around the hulls doesnt flap in the breeze as this will cause more damage than a couple of stone chips. Any dust, dirt or even the texture from carpet or cloth can "sand" your hulls on a long trip.

I'd just go with the mud flaps idea. And get the boat up off the road a bit, put some risers under your cradles.

I've never had any rock or debris damage my boat on a road trip. Most of that stuff is deflected by the towing vehicle.

Is that picture proving just how much stuff you can fit on one trailor.

You could also wrap the bows with that shrink wrap stuff used for wrapping palettes...but I wouldn't leave it on there too long - it doesn't breathe.
