I will be heading to Hollywood to begin the journey north and reporting on the race regularly every day.
Just got back from teaching a seminar in Israel and am frantically still packing the RV, so will miss the start, but certainly will be there for the finish.
So this afternoon I will begin getting the news to you.

I arrived at the beach at 3:30 PM and all there was were rumors.., nothing from the RC boat stationed at Fowey Rock. At 2:30 nothing was in sight.
At 4PM, while I was talking to RC Chair, Sean Ferrell, he got a call, and Team Tybee Island is again on a roll to defend their title. John Casey and Kenny Pierce were first around the rock.
It was a light air beat to Fowey Rock, but here in Hollywood it is blowing 12-15 mph from the southeast.
Should be a fast ride home.

The call Sean got was broken up. The reality is that Oolala was first by 2 minutes over Tybee. Tiki Watersports II was in 3rd place and Tiki I was 4th.
Almost all the boats have rounded the Rock

Any updates?

Would it be possible to get a list of Sail numbers. It is difficult determining the boats by team name alone. I am going to post positions 10 miles from the finish today.

Most of the boats don't have sail numbers, but I will try to get something identifying for each, if there are no numbers on them during the start.

cyberspeed: From your vantage point, the two 1017's should be discernable since OOOlala will be yellow from the side you'll be seeing it (unless, for some reason, they are going the wrong way) and Velocity will be white.

What color is Ooolala from the other side?

Jen just had another update from Lake Worth FL.

Its all about branding and eyeballs.

You want eyeballs coming to your site... Not someone elses who is reposting your content. ... (good for your sponsors and next year's budget).

So.. unless you want to start and maintain a lot of chatter on the SA site... don't expect any coverage.

Everyone who is creating content will want their supporters to go to their team site.... Rick of course wants eyeballs to come to the cat sailor site.
