Whilst on the MYC website it is worth looking through the Annotation gallery as you might find some of them amusing.

I thought it was my eyes. That was kind of the way I was seeing about then, nice to know it was not me, it really was that way.

Great shots

Cool.

I assume they moved the shrouds back as they never plan to have the boom out much.

Very observant Si....But what I found more interesting was the difference in F16 mainsail shapes and in particular the differing mainsail foot lengths of the Blades. Hans mainsail foot was well within the rear beam compared to Matts and Franks.

That is because Hans is using a circular traveller setup for his mainsheet, an A-cat setup. The others aren't.

Actually Wouter that answer can only account for about 75mm of difference. FYI....i tried Han's sail (original Landy sail) on my boat & the foot was too long. I was going to try it for the Nam Rem race, but the mainsheet angle was huge.

The difference was the positioning of the beams on various boats....some were closer together & others further apart. I will let you speculate on what was which..??? <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Yep, that is right !

That is part of the equation too. Althought the only blade with a different spacing between the beams was your boat. All other Blades were of VWM and share identical beam positions. The fact that even between VWM Blade the mainsail by Hans was well in of the rearbeam is due to his circular traveller setup.

With respect to speculation. The situation is simple :

Stealths have the most distance between their beams
VWM Blades have roughly the same distance as the Taipans.
Aussie Blade has the smallest distance between the beams of all.

I remember a while back some folks preached against the circular traveler setup. Yet Hans who got first place had this setup? LOL, why didnt you guys convince him that it is a "bad design" for the F16.

Whats up with that?

The Stealth does have a lot of rocker and a very flat bottomed hull design. I imagine that this form helps produce lift whilst also increasing the ability to go through tacks and gybes quickly. This coupled with the 'T' foils certainly helps drive the boat hard downwind, or as was the case at Zandvoort feel comparatively safe whilst going downwind. John and Paul Alani were twin wiring with kite on the runs with their Stealth at Zandvoort whilst Hans only occasionally hoisted his kite and therefore the curved traveller paid dividends. It is also worth while mentioning that Hans has only been sailing a F16 for 3 months previous to this he has been a very keen 'A' Class sailor. So even in his own words he is still learning to sail with a kite.
P.S Matt and Bart won every race in which they didn't go swimming.
