This last October the Stiletto Nationals were renamed the Suncoast Multihull Rendezvous in order to include more boats, including a sizeable fleet of corsairs and some random cats and tris.
Tragically, just a week before the event, longtime participant, avid multihull sailor, and my uncle and mentor passed away. To honor his memory and influence in the florida multihull community the event was renamed again 'The Bob Buzzelli Legacy Regatta'
It was a fantastic event, as the stiletto nationals always are, only better because we had more than thirty boats participating.
I am hoping that next year a Beach Cat class might show up. Who is interested in sailing in sarasota in october?. I know a great group of stiletto sailors and corsair sailors will be there. This years NOR was posted on Catsailor so I hope everyone considers coming. Sarasotta is a great place to sail. This yea we had a distance race to venice and back, folowed by two days around the cans.
Anyway this is just to gauge some interest in the beach cat community ....
And some more cool pictures of my pimped out 23' CLOCKWORK, Only this time, SAILING!

I've been to Sarasota to race several times, the one problem that seems to occur is finding a launching area for beach cats, on the bay side, and all the ocean side is condo's and hotels, no access for launching there.
I've launched out of the Sarasota Sailing Squadron for their Midwinter regattas, but they would only run two races a day for the beach cats, on some very long courses, when we should have been sailing with their 470's.
If you can get the race comittee to run say, 4-5 races a day, shorter courses, etc. that would probably bring in the beach cats.
Have you found a good place to launch on the gulf side?
on the gulf side I have not found a good place to trailer launch. If you were planning on keeping your boat there for a weekend or more, you can keep it right on siesta beach. there are lots of cats up in the dunes there.
If enough beach cats showed up, I am sure a separate course could be arranged. I might sail with the beach cats. It sure would be easier than trailering my 23 down there...
I was there on an F28R this year, very cool club, I thought they had plenty of room to launch beach cats at the sailing squadron, there was a Hobie 21 and a RC27 that did'nt seem to have any problems
