I will have to show you a real snow cat. I'll get a picture tomorrow. But on a Texas Cat, it looks great.

Texas will surprise you Doug. I think it was last year that we had a decent snowstorm in April. Saw about 6" around Easter in central Texas with that one. It was a surreal experience seeing snow stacked up on the leaves of oak trees, which had fully leafed out. I am assuming the picture was taken this month during the cold snap with a little snow. Did you notice that 2 days before and 2 days after that we had short sleeve shirt weather?! Go figure.

I remember when it snowed in Malibu a few years ago. Half the residents were calling the Porsche para-medics, the rest were clearing their driveways with their noses.

Where do you sail? Want to hook up with you some time. You are about 40 minutes from me. I know no one around here to sail with. I have a Mystere 4.3 now.

NO It was really snowing. A rarity here, but it does happen. Never on one of my boats though.

Doug, I have only sailed a couple of lakes around the Tyler area. Lake Tyler and Lake Palestine are the only 2 I have been on so far. I have had the H16 for only half a season so I am still a greenhorn. I plan to go to Hobie U at Mariner sails in Dallas during the month of April and hopefully will learn a thing or two. We should get together sometime for a sail. That would be great.

Texas will surprise you

It suprised me, I got back from San Antonio yesterday, and it was raining mud in the week, something to do with a fire in Mexico. Very strange.

At first I thought you were referring to the Mystere. Didn't even notice the snow.

WalleyBear:

What first name? I have a friend out of Bullard on Lake Palestine. We has a Hobie 14 and a good place to launch on the water front on the lake. Maybe we can get up early and all meet over there when it gets warmer? also get this:

https://store.catsailor.com/ProductCart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=99&idproduct=6437

You will learn more in 6 months reading it (and practicing)than you can learn in 3 years on your own. There is a while chapter on the Hobie 16 by Wayne Schaeffer (sp), one of the guru's of the 16. I can also give you some tips to practice. I made it to A fleet and was pretty good in the early 80's.

Yea still Tampa area. Not sure which of the suburbs I will choose , but will leave the boat mast up at GYC most of the time when I do move there. Will sail the causeway too. Seem to be from the forums here a good group at both. Dave talked to David Parker about the causeway. Look forward to both someday.

It's not the first time I've heard of Mystere-owners with massive dandruff.

I have not been to GYC but they sure have lots of sweet rides... i LOVE the causeway for many reasons (esp that its almost in my backyard) but we get the best of all worlds, protected intra-costal waters in the St Joeseph Sound, and just a 1/2 mile run out to the Gulf. Lots of spill islands for camping and beer breaks.... State park beaches and Clearwater beach for eye candy....

Yea that is what I miss about Texas City Dike. The way the wind blows most of the time, you get a lift off the Dike, so flat water most of the time. And Gulf is a short sail through the jetties.
