if you don't push to the edge , how do you know where it is ??

still capsizing a 60 foot tri can't be a bundle of fun

when match racing my bud in Hurricanes when it was windy it would often be decided by who eventually pushed soo hard they went over ,

cant see this being any different in match racing multis of any size .

Even if they restrict wind strengths , the boats will be designed to be full powered up and more .

Just hope it happens in big multis , could be spectacular .

They pitched a 60' boat!!! That had to be excitement.

"As we were bearing away, always the highest risk situation on a multihull, both the leeward and the central hull dug into the water and the rudders came out," said Alinghi's Ed Baird.

"From then it was out of our hands and we capsized forwards. As the mast hit the water, it broke, followed by the rear beam.

CHAACHING!

Looks like Alinghi's development budget of their AC boat just increased by the value of an ORMA60.

Funny how everybody misspell the name of the tri: It's 'Foncia', the name of a French real estate group, not 'Fonica'. Sorry I don't mean to pick on you, it's just that I've seen the mistake made multiple times both on SA and here, I'm just wondering why this happens.

Pepin,

I also got the name wrong to begin with, as it is kind of close to the english "phone" etc. I most have read "Foncia" as "Fonica" over a hundred times just the last couple of years. I bet journalists also have misspelled that name.. We all know that we just read the first and the last letters of a word anyway, so.. Alnihgi capisezs Focnia?

Pepin, it happens because they are French and we, being Ugly Americans, do it on purpose.
