Not nearly as much wind as yesterday, Wx Channel says North at 7, which feels about right, I'm 80 miles west of where they are, but they may have a little more with the sea breeze that should be on by now.

Wind about 15knots with some heavier gusts...the gusts will probably get stronger later in the day but the wind is expected to drop to 7-8 by 7:30 to 8:00pm. They're around half-way there now. Waves are relatively flat (2' or so) where we were - though we were at a jetti where the current was crazy so it was hard to judge.

We saw smoldering fires on either side of A1A right up to the edge of the highway (the immediate fires appeared to be under control - or, rather, done) at around North Melbourne. There was a helicopter about a mile away doing water drops. We could see a few structures near the road that were fried. This is crazy.

We've been on A1A since Fort Pierce - pretty smooth going.

Looks like the only two boats that are still working on the live tracking are Cat Fever and Marley's White. They appear to be just north of Vero Beach now. It's going to be a long evening.

Well today I got to see my first Tybee start and all I can say is that it sure was exciting to watch live and not on the PC, lots of cheering and quite a few spectators! But Rick and BK keep up the good work as that is the only start I'll see, the the pics and vids are great!
A lot of the teams ate at Cybers (Craigs)last night, had some real good Gumbo, should hold them over for a long day today.

How F'd up is that?

Last I checked, about 30 min. Ago, it looked like Cat Fever's transponder had also ceased and it had beed 45 minutes since a check-in .. I guess the batteries are dying.

Yeah, I thought Cat Fever was done, too, but just got a new update 12 minutes ago.

At 6pm the Orlando news is saying the Cocoa Beach winds are dropping off now, about 10 out of the NE this hour. On the fires, some people saw a guy in a brown SUV toss a lit flare out the window into the woods and a fire started, luckily they saw it, got neighbors to help and they were able to put it out before it got out of control.

Where do these idiot fire bugs come from? Don't they have homes at risk? If they catch them, maybe they should tie them to a pole and light 'em up, Old School.

Marley's Yellow is back on tracking now, too, after being off for 3 hours. Weird.

The boats being tracked are all north of Melbourne now, closing in on Satellite Beach. The guys on the beach at Cocoa say the wind has dropped to about 7-8 mph, still out of the north-northeast. They're figuring 2 1/2 hours till the boats start finishing. (Doesn't look that far to me.)

I'm betting the first boat is going to finish at 9:00 p.m.

We're missing a program. Which sailor goes with which boat?

Order was:

Velocity
Tybee
Marley's Yellow
Cat Fever
Marley's Orange
Seacats
Marley's White
Chaos
MooseBurd
Cat In the Hat

In my opinion (and I wasn't sailing), that was one of the toughest Tybee 500 legs in history. Yes, we've sailed much later before, but never as physically for so long with less VMG for the majority of the day.

Thanks Jake, I was getting ready to copy the results from your site. What a long day, I can't even imagine how sore they must be.
Great job and congrats to all for finishing that leg!
