Come join us. An open beachcat start is included in this race. We are the last ones to start and we try to be the first to finish passing 170+ monos on the way. Nacra 20s are the largest open beachcats sub fleet. Tygart Racing, the NACRA-20 of Doug Kirby and Andy Herbick reset the fastest elapsed time record, beating their own record from the previous year!
I'm in. It's always fun picking off million dollar lead sleds. It'd be nice if some other folks(I will name names) would come out and play. How 'bout it Trey, Tad, Trey's roommate with the great looking boat, Jake, Chris Z., and a bunch of others I'll leave nameless (you know who you are).Gather up your B***S and make the drive. Let's put a swarm of cats on those monos. Word on the street is there might even be some A cats racing if it's not blowing the dogs off chains. Tawd p.s. Tad I'm countin' on you for most creative excuse, and where my rings, beeeeaahhccchhh.

The big race this weekend is the Governor's Cup. That starts tonight outside of Annapolis and runs to Saint Marys. No beach cat start on that race, although in the past I think some have shadowed it. There is a multi hull class, bunch of beach cat locals crewing on those.
Hey Phillip, Me Too, I looked and looked.I did find a nice aluminum one that I have on the A cat for now. These were his old ones.Ya wanna sell yours? You oughta come up and do this race. There will be a bunch of I-20s . Come on and bring it. Todd

Just found out my crew is going to be flying to Greece or something that weekend. I'm in the process of finding a replacement :P
As for the rings, I bought them at the local REI. They were just "titanium belaying rings" and were like $5 a pop. I can't find them on their website anymore, and I can't find them locally anymore, so I'm willing to bet they aren't made anymore. I just sent the last three of them I had to Todd.
Todd and Tad, I haven't given up on the rap rings. I've been talking with the head procurement/distribution guy at REI and the folks at Campmor and we are trying to locate some NOS. On Monday I will be speaking with the manufacturer that has supplied the rings to see if there is any stock or to consider the option/costs to get more made. I wonder if there is enough interest here to justify an order ??

I personally don't prefer them to the EZ-grab rings. They weren't big enough for me to get a paw on to get them out of my hook when tacking, so I ditched them. Todd on the other hand loves them as apparently you do too.
Hey Philip, I'm in for 9 or so.Let me know if you get anywhere. I talked to some manager type at REI and they said they didn't think they would get anymore in, but that was as far as I got. Now that you've got a boat and all ya need to come do this race. We used to race through the same fleet on the old Chesapeake 100 , and it was a blast using the big monohulls for a slalom course. Plus there is this little itty bitty party when you get there. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> So come on and do it and bring some others with ya. Todd

They seem to be hollow. However, even with my "heft" I wasn't able to dent them. They seem more than up to the task but I don't know how much I'd trust them if subjected to the elements for a long time.
My wife went and bought like 6 of them. Lost all of them but 4. 1 of which Philip got for lending me a pin at Spring Fever and I just bagged up three of them for Todd.
The NASS Race : Annapolis to Oxford, Starts at R2 (Annapolis/Severn River) .... Finishes at R2 Tred Avon (Oxford) It is the outstanding event w/ usually 150+ "Big Boats". W/ a HUGE PARTY!!!!! The crews of the A0 boats have mellowed over the years and now cheer their "Little Brothers" as the beach cats charge by .... even "DONNYBROOK" !!!!
Mark Schnieder and I were the FIRST Beach Catters to do the event on Mark's Tornado .... unfortunately both him and I will not be able to do it on a beach cat this year .... We will be on TRIPLE THREAT, a 43' Corsair Tri ... we start 5 mins in front of the Beach Cats ... last year two I20's managed to pass us ... Kirby and Sievert .... so come and give it a Go ....
And who owns I20/RUDEE'S .... you owe me a BEER ... you didn't pull your boat up high enough for the incoming tide at Governor's Cup/St Mary's .... as tired as I was ....
For photo's of the Governor's Cup go to "photoboat.com" and pull up TRIPLE THREAT ... there are some awesome pic's ... notice the Thunderstorms come in at the finish ... that sky is "Black" not blue
