Who is going? We are the only boat registered.

I will be taking my 24' enclosed trailer down and leaving it until Tradewinds. I could carry 4 or 5 boats from the Carolinas if anyone wants to fly and sail.

We'll (gray nacra 20 that was at the statue) be there along with the New England enclosed trailer, i'm sure a couple other boats in it are going to sail the steeplechase as well.
Where are you keeping your trailer? We are keeping ours at Tiki Watersports but are interested in cheaper alternatives from the Tradewinds until the Tybee

Never gave it a thought. I just figgured there would be someplace that would let you park a trailer for a month.

I had a sailboat shop in Key West from 1973 to 1985. We used to store all kinds of boats and never lost one or charged a dime.

I guess times have changed.

What are the fees at Tiki?

You also used to be able to plug in an RV in for less per night than the hotel next door - times have really changed in the last few years down there.

Thanks.

I guess that is reasonable.

I have friends in Marathon. Might just leave it there.

What about camping at the regatta site. Any info that?

Karl... it's great to hear your going to make another attempt... but I don't think there is much wrong with the way you did it last year...well at least the hotel beach bar part!

Do we even know where the race is going to start out of this year? Is Gilbert's still existent?
The last couple years i've looked at the camping option and to pitch a tent is like $60+ bucks night... at that point you may as well just get a hotel room. There's no free camping i'm aware of.. seems land is a premium down there.

I'd put out the APB. I'm sure there might be a sailor or two (even lead sled) that could be pursuaded to let you bring an air mattress and sleep on the floor for less than the hotel rooms...

Chip & Barb have some space...

Gilberts and the place across the other side of the bridge are launching options. I believe if you are staying at Gilberts, launching is free.
Also, you might try the Caribbean Club. No one has the beach concession at the time, so you might try just going in and paying the bartender for launch in and out, and let them know the trailer will be there overnight Saturday.

good news is no rush through the bridge. It is open 24/7 now since the new 65' bridge went in. Bad news, I will start the races at 9AM sharp, no excuses about bridges and current. laugh

Should be fun.

In the past we have a small yard for a tent or so. Not enough room to store large trailers until Tradewinds, but a boat or two is possible at our house.
We have 4 big lots on the next street, but not allowed to touch a tree to store anything -- regulations.., and looks like more coming.

Rick
