Hi all,

Does anyone have an old Ronstan RF7005 traveller car (see attachment). Mine decided to shatter on the weekend on the first gybe. Sailing Mk1 in 13-18knts with the mainsheet lashed to the centre of the back beam was interesting on all points of sailing (I might have won too if it wasn't for that grin. Maybe not...)

Ronstan don't make this part anymore and there isn't a replacement that will go on the existing track. All I really need is one of the plastic endcaps for the car. I have tried the Adelaide marine stores, Ronstan, Goodalls and half the mossie sailors is SA. I even rang Peter Cobden in Canada... Yes I'm desperate.... Help please, anyone...

Thanks

Ben

Hi Ben,

That's depressing.... I have the same model. I'll check a couple of my locals, one in particular always seems to have some older stuff about. Public holiday tomorrow, I'll let you know Wednesday if I find anything.

Cheers

Greg Goodall should have or had a good supply of RF7006 (as opposed to the RF7005) which will do the same job but the top part with the sheaves moves backward and forward or pivots a few degrees.

The Taipan uses these as they have that track extruded onto the rear beam and he bought up big before they went out of production.

Cheers

Hi Matt,

I spoke to Greg yesterday. He does have some but has exactly the same number of cars to rear beams and so is, understandably, not willing to sell them separately. Thanks for the tip though...

Ben,

Visually it looks the same section and car as the Windslyce traveller.....have you checked to see if that would fit.

Made in Sydney and good quality item....check with "Gull" at Binks.

sorry Ben, it was old stock when i bought it, didn't think it would be any different to the newer ones.
If you cant get a new one i would recommend the Windslyce traveller and car this is what i have on the new boat and it was cheaper than the old ronstan one you currently have.

No problem - I got a new track and car. Had to re drill the beam as the holes on the old track were 4" apart and all new tracks are 100mm. It's close but not close enough. The boats probably 4 grams lighter now grin
