about the shallows, for real, if he had to tack to miss it.

This happened about 4 months ago... and i didnt recall all the details. I thought he was reaching, and i was close-hauled... | | | Re: Starboard vs Leeward

Posts: 1,200 Vancouver, BC | ... forcing me to put my boat in irons, and literally pop the jib, lift rudders and centerboards to back up Ummm, that's not the right method to back up a cat. Next time starting from in irons try pushing the boom over hard to leeward (so it starts to backwind) while holding the rudders with the blades angled to leeward (ie. pull the tiller to windward). Boat will beging backing...feather direction with the helm. Now you've got a reverese gear!

Unregistered | I rounded up into irons to avoid that lumbering giant barge you call a boat. The current pushed my drifting, defenseless little beauty into the marker. Thats not exactly how you desctibed it in your email to me. You wrote, "That was my first time out in the boat, about 90 seconds off the beach, and my knowledge of the boat's tacking ability was zero. It was a narrow channel, near a mark, I was tacking badly away from a sudden shoal with rudders popped up, and I was on starboard. I missed the tack and hit the marker anyway." Your story is getting fuzzy (just like your ears and nostrils)

Unregistered | every tack to port I say out loud to myself, "I'm on PORT now". We were wondering why you were yelling to yourself! I DO race occasionally and a few years back I did a port t-bone on someone". Ah Ha! He has a history of reckless sailing! Your Honor, I rest my case!

Beware of reckless Nacra 5.0's (with fuzzy ears) screaming "I'M ON PORT NOW" to them-self, floating helplessly into markers and other obstructions | | |
