Okay, I am a bit stumped over this one. I just had my jib converted to vertical battens. What is the best way to roll this beast up?

Did I hear that some of you use a piece of pipe upon which you roll the jib? I assume you roll it on an angle parallel to the vertical battens (perhaps they are best called diagonal battens).

Thanks in advance

Take the battens out first, then roll it.

Well on my sail you can't take the battens out so there is a way to do it. It requires flaking the sail and then rolling. It dosen't need to be rolled on a pipe. I'll try to explain how to do it but a picture would be helpful.....don't have one!

The sail is flaked into three sections. It's done so the leech is kept together in alignment. Then you simply start at the leech and roll the sail. Don't roll it tight. The drag about having the battens in like that is you have to fold the jib before you roll it. On a breezy day by yourself the thing is a pain to get put away properly.

Thanks Mike and Jim;

As with Mike's jib, my battens will not come out easily. However, I think I understand what you mean by flaking the jib. I'll give it a try this weekend.

Cheers
