hi, i have an old condor 16, the mainsail is shot, i am wondering if anyone can suggest an alternative mainsail that would fit, the boat is just used for blasting, not racing. It would also be good to make contact with amy other conder owners

Hi Jonathan,
The problem you have is that the Condor has a low aspect rig and quite a flexible mast. If replacing with a sail off another similar sized boat you should be prepared to visit the sailmaker to reduce luff length/area and match the luff curve to the mast. It will probably be less hassle to replace both mast and main from another cat with a more modern and more powerful rig. If you can't find one easily try contacting insurance companies for spares where boats have had hulls trashed.
Great boat the Condor. Brilliant balance and loads of bow buoyancy. They remain fast and forgiving in ridiculous conditions. A genuine single or double-handed cat decades before the F16.

Good luck

Have you tried Don Findlay. there used to be loads of old stuff in his garage, if you looked hard enough, you could find anything!

Hi All,

I've acquired a Condor no.971 - it is indeed tremendous, and I'm fortunate enough to have a main which is in good nick, though I'm replacing a lot of the hardware. I'd be very glad to hear how many Condors (and spares) there are around, where they are and if anyone can remember how to make them go fast.....

Good point; Grant sailed them too; I THINK Andy has some old stuff kicking around his workshop. Depends what you are after.
