No sinister intent in the use of the word 'targeting'...Just meant that was the intended user of the tool. There is nothing evil in the tools many have used it without a problem. Not sure what might be causing it to be flagged as spyware. Haven't seen that previously. I'd be glad to work with you to see what is causing it if you drop me a note at VolvoTools@regattatech.com with some particulars about how your system is complaining about spyware etc.

Now back to the game wink

That reminds me of a joke,

The lettuce, hose, tomato were having a race.
This is how it went,
The lettuce was a head
the hose was running and
the tomato was trying to catsup. grin sorry

I was convinced that the pack I was in (Blow boat, Aldabra and Ariadna) were not going to manage to sail around the east side of the high pressure and so (late) elected to sail around the west of it. So far I've lost about 4500 places getting where I want to be; however it looks like the systems are moving faster east than I was expecting.

When I plotted it out; it was close as to making the west route, but less intervention was required (I am Ski instructing all day today and tomorrow with no access to the boat) than taking the east route.

Thus I decided it was worth a punt as I would probably loose 50 miles to them anyway as a result of lack of "boat time". As it is I am about 160miles behind them.

I have taken a big flyer, very few have followed me; most have followed the rhumb line.

If it works, I'll hopefully slot back in around 300-500th; if it does not I'll be around 6-8K!!

It was essentially forced on me as I could not care for the boat much today and tomorrow and the west route required less "work"; but MUCH higher risk.

The next wind update will be critical. If it parks zero wind on the rhumb line around where Blow boat et al are, I should be able to sail around them in the next 12 hours. IF I end up blocked; or they have good wind/angle, I'm stuffed!!

As I said; high risk!!!

I'm moving very slowly but still gaining places (1500 in the last 6 hours).
This is actually the first time I have seen windzones with 0 knots of wind.
With a little luck I might overtake Simon again as well (only 4 nm ahead).

Did not quite get there (yet); you have about 600 more places to go!

Next wind update looks kinda interesting; maybe west is not so bad for this one....

Next one looks even more west biased; but things are changing sooooo quickly that each update looks nothing like what Ugrib suggests even 2 hours before we get it - total crap shoot. Winner is already into Rio!!!

Yep; I'm heading for (hopefully) better wind at the next update; and dropping places like crazy as a result (1400 in the last 3 1/2 hours!

BUT, you are going to hit that wall at 39:30 south soon. I'll be hopfully pootling up west waiting for Code Zero blasting conditions at the next update taking me almost directly to Rio!!!

Assuming the forecast comes in

I have only one person to thank...my girlfriend for puttimg up with me and this game. She has had momments where she was softly cusing me. She's also woke me in time for the morning shift. The lap top has been renamed Blow Boat. Like when I leave the house she'll ask are you taking blow boat?

That being said, I'm still waiting for those girls to show up and party!

Well done mate; we were close together for a fair portion of the closing stages; however my trip west has cost me dear!

I've just finished in 8524th place, but I had an unfair advantage as a new baby born a couple of weeks back meant that I have been up a lot in the night, with ample opportunities for taking avantage of wind shifts.

Well done to Roxy Volvemous for being the first catsailor across the line without an autopilot.
