Hi Guys
Can someone please tell me who manufactures mosquito boat covers(by that I mean if someone has made some before and has a pattern)and a rough guide to the cost.
Cheers
Dave

Hey there,

Made mine out of an old billboard sign, a guy was selling them on ebay for not much.

Has print on one side but white on the other, UV stable pvc cloth.

Just laid it out over boat while on trailer and trimmed it to fit, goes right from bow to stern.

Will post a photo later when I get home.

The standard blue (or sometimes grey) tarp from the hardware shop is quite popular, but if you want something custom made to fit the boat Greg Goodall at AHPC would make a very nice cover (03 5443 6910).

Dave,

You can make your own if you can get hold of some truck trailer side curtain material (UV stabilized and reinforced heavy duty PVC roll). cool The material I got was a standard 3 m wide which was ideal for the Mozzie and 5 m long.

I just laid the material over the hulls and marked where I needed to cut (bows, bridle, side stays, centreline up to the mast step and rear beam inside corners). Joining was so easy; just overlap the bow joins or eyelet reinforcement points and superglue. After 5 years it's still going strong. I have only had to replace some eyelets that corroded away.

Regards,

Peter

Thankyou for your input guys.
I did as you suggested and purchased a pair of advertising skins that when cut to shape and size will do the job.
I had to buy a pair so if any one is interested in the other skin (Has Dan Murphy advertising on one side)please let me know.
Cheers
Dave

I'd be interested in one, what width and length are they? Where are you and about how much would it weigh so I can get a freight quote.

The pvc skins are very waterproof make sure your seems are completly watertight. I recently picked up my mozzie after abandoning it for a few months at he yacht club to find the top of my hulls wet and the paint bubbleing in a few places.

Hi Jeff
I will be away interstate for the next two days but will endeavour to measure the skin (As well as take a photo)over the weekend and get back to you.
I am located on the Mornington Peninsula and I guess an approximate weight would be around the 13kg mark.
Cheers
Dave
By the way can anyone tell me how to attach photos to the post?

To post photo's you first need to make the photo files smaller. Click the "Switch to full screen reply button", then click on File Manager, then click Browse, select the photo you want, then click add file. When you've added your files click "done adding files".

These skins are on a truck that is a part of his mobile billboard business so unfortunately all the skins available are the same size.
