Rock Hall Yacht club has publized the results of their annual Down the River distance race. This event appears to be the lead-in to their annual One-Design invitational regatta. 5 F16's made class there and completed the invitational. One F16 also participated in the distance race. And the skipper was or secret wapon mr Ed Mills !

26 boats entered and finished the race. Both dighies and catamarans. mr Ed's main competition were the 6 A-cats that participated in this race. Chris Brown got line honours after passing mr Ed when the latter made a tactical mistake. Mr Brown did so after mr Ed helped him find the finish-line as the rumour would have it. Larger report can be found here :

larger report of the race

Mr Brown (A-cat) finished 1st after 1hr 13 min and 13 secs of sailing with mr Ed. (on the Blade F16) finishing second at 1hr. 13 min and 48 secs. These results are elapsed time and not corrected time. The 3rd place finisher was Chris Ford on the A-cat with an elapsed time of 1hr 14min 9 secs. The 4th place finisher (another A-cat) came in significantly later at 1hr 20min 29 secs.

The corrected results under US portsmouth handicap therefor show mr. Brown 1st, mr Ford 2nd (Both A-cats) and Mr Ed. third. That is the result of the A-cat handicap being slower then the handicap for the F16. And looking at the fact that 5 of the 6 A-cats that entered were slower on elapsed time then the lonesome F16 does not suggest that this rating difference is wrong in any way.

If anything there was a nice race between the two A's and the F16 for line honours.

Well done mr Ed Mills. !
