Posts: 3,355 Key Largo, FL and Put-in-Bay, ... | Gotta say, it bothers me as well. I believe Mary and I were extremely helpful in establishing ACat racing in the Keys when we had the Hotel. Guess someone got mad at us when we sold it, and have ignored us ever since. They once were one of the biggest fleets in the Tradewinds, and now only a handful come to it, despite being right across the street and within a day or two. So, I question why information was NOT sent to me? I frankly do not know the answer. I doubt if SA does as much for the A-Cats as I have. Sorry for venting. Rick The exposure for the A class is much more valuable on Sailing Anarchy. Catsailor only exposes A’s to the catamaran segment of the sailing market. Sailing Anarchy exposes the class to the entire sailing market. The biggest gains to be made for A cats is monohull converts so a Sailing Anarchy exclusive makes sense for them I think. | | | Re: Coconut grove sails A Invitational? Rick?

Posts: 894 Branford, CT | Agreed, but why be ignored? Our website averages 6 milliion hits per month, and has always been ranked as one of the top sites worldwide for ANY kind of boating. Rick I get the impression that it’s a SA guy that went down to do the reporting so it wouldn’t make much sense for him to give the story away to another site. | | | Re: Coconut grove sails A Invitational? Posts: 1,252 California | Got me thinking... and looking for stats. According to ( http://www.quantcast.com) Catsailor.com averages 3.8 k (people visiting) and peaked in August with just under 12 k Meanwhile Sailinganarchy.com was running at about 100 k and is now at close to 400 k people visiting. I'd say they are pretty hot. Check it out: http://www.quantcast.com/sailinganarchy.comHobiecat.com is doing pretty well in the ranking as well. The "hits" is pretty useless as it refers to url links... each and every image, page and object accessed. | | | Re: Coconut grove sails A Invitational? Rick?

Using the whole SA site as a benchmark is a little off when this is solely a catamaran site. I checked the OTWA regularly for updates, and while I appreciate the news, I didn't see more than 8 or 10 people on at any given time, so I'm not sure there was a huge media blitz.

Shouldn't someone managing that regatta get a report out to all the media?
For the upcoming Tradewinds I sent out a PR pre-race story to ALL the local papers. Had I sent to only one, I would be in a heap of trouble in the future. Most of them published the story.., some editing, some not. But they all got the same story at the same time. Rick | | | Re: Coconut grove sails A Invitational? Rick?

Posts: 1,252 California | That's nice ,come into Ricks house and start slinging mud. That is a bit twisted. The question was whether sailing anarchy is a valid place to promote cat sailing. The stats show the traffic. You look at it closer you find that "visits" are high here at Catsailor... same faces over and over. If you want to promote, you need to hit more venues for new faces. Catsailor has this event right down the street and can easily cover it here if they want. | | | Re: Coconut grove sails A Invitational? Rick?

I REPEAT: I checked the OTWA regularly for updates, and while I appreciate the news, I didn't see more than 8 or 10 people on at any given time, so I'm not sure there was a huge media blitz. If you had looked at the bottom of the page that shows who's viewing you would have seen the same. I'm not busting on SA, I think that was the most responsible coverage I've seen Clean do( minus the tirade on the volunteer driver, I'd have put his kiester in the drink) and was extremely glad for the info but, the way I see it is ,it doesn't have to be one or the other. Why not both cover it? Most of the guys I know in the A fleets came from some kind of cat. The viewers I saw on the SA coverage were mostly the guys I see in the multihull page, and again there was only a handful. So pulling in the mono guys is flawed logic IMO if it's at the expense of established catsailors. Obviously by my original post ,I was hoping Rick would check it out.I guess we need to buy Rick a warm coat.
