Hi All I found a nice video from a trimaran "Competing" with a windsurfer.
I know the Tri is just at cruising speed and not unther full sail but stil a nice thing to look at.

This was actually a bet about which craft was faster over a given distance.

The windsurf guy broke his rig during the attempt and the lost the bet that way. He was slightly ahead I think, but he had a rough ride and it went wrong.

at least that is how I remember it.

If it was a bet, wouldn't the tri put up ALL of its sail?

If I click, all I see is weird text. If I right click and save as, it will only save it as a text file.

I wanna see I wanna see!

Just go ahead and right-click/save-as. While the save-as dialog will indicate that it's a text file, it will nonetheless save as .wmv. Then you can open it with Windows Media Player.

Mark.

Thanks for posting the link Rob

great footage -

Enjoy sailing both types ,-

Has to make you wonder how much faster a tri or beachcat might be with similar aft raked swept angulating rig and planning surface hull shape in those similar windspeeds .

Watch closely, and you'll see that the tri is on the verge of flying its main hull. In a couple of spots, you can see air under the full length of it. As such, more sail would probably not be faster but would just cause more hull-flying.

sail fast
