Just got my hands on a 14 at no cost. It does need some TLC, mainly a lot of cleanup. The sail, hulls and tramp appear to be in good shape. I've read numerous posts about soft spots on the hulls. Any suggestions on what I should look for? I am able to feel what I would consider soft spots (able to depress the top of the hull in a little), but not sure if that is normal or a potential problem.

I am so excited about cleaning it up and getting it out on the water. My wife says I look like a kid in a candy store. I sailed a turbo 14 about a month ago and was instantly hooked.

I enjoy the posts and look foward to finding out some more information.

You should be able to tell if it the spot is soft. You will hear a slight crackling noise. Kind of what you get when you crinkle up a m&m wrapper or something. Plus you should notice much more flexibility in the soft area. A hull should be strong and rigid with very little flex. If you find one of these spots get it fixed immediately or a day in heavy air can crush your hull. welcome to the hobie way of life
