Will there be a slot for an AC team in the 2011 Alter Cup Championship at ABYC? John Lovell recommended that idea during a teleconference for the Multihull Championship Committee meeting in Phoenix.

No, the conditions as they are written do not permit assigning slots at the discretion of the committee; Mr. Spithill will need to go through the petition process.

He'll be sailing the Aus A Class Nationals at Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club Noosa Aus Jan 2-7. I have an Alinghi cap which will be presented to him to use as a doormat!

I got to talk with Jimmy right much at the LAC and he said different. If his schedule allows, I'd put good money on him being there as well as other "beachcat" events.
Those vids are spot on with his views. He's a NO BS straight shooter.
Go ahead JC.
p.s. The pic is the trophy case at NYYC, Tad, so far no implosion.

First off-Ebonics and redneck don't match=Fail. Vernacular, dialect,slang, or lingo would all be suitable, but not the antonym you chose. Secondly - it wasn't a little and it wasn't alot = right much. Thirdly- it's amazing how one hollow ,semi-victory get's you on the judgemental train.
Stick to bashing Tad and Ricky you snob, that was actually funny.

No, the conditions as they are written do not permit assigning slots at the discretion of the committee;
If that's actually the case, then why did Area J get so many petitions (2 I believe) accepted to race when Area F only (barely) got one when we couldn't have our qualifier since it was cancelled due to Hurricane Ike damage? Did Southern California have some earthquakes that cancelled their qualifier?

All open slots are filled with petitions. Once the ranking is done it's just a simple matter for going from the top to the bottom until all the empty slots are filled.

At least during my tenure, Petitions were voted on and ranked. The committee was given some general guide lines regarding the qualifications of the candidates(s) and if they attended their qualifier (with room to explain why they didn't attend...obviously if your area didn't have one, that's a pretty good reason). If there are other issues, the date the petition was received might come into play.
The margins were always very slim between votes on nearly all petition candidates.
