Posts: 1,403 | Coming up on July 16th in Ventura, CA. A day long ocean distance race out and around Anacapa Island. If you're planning to race let PBYCknow as they need five boats to make the class. | | | Re: Milt Ingram Trophy Race

Posts: 337 Arizona | I won’t be making it to that event, but I think that that we will have 3 boats heading your way from the Phoenix area for the tri point in August. GO FLEET 42!!! Saturday at the Tri point and Sunday at the Wine and Roses in SB. N60, N58, 18HT. We hope to triple stack the three on one trailer and pull behind an RV. I would love to do the Anacapa series, but not this year.
What can you tell me about the tripoint race? Expected time on the water, currents, setup amenities for us out of towners, camping (RV) for the same, etc. Any info you have for us would be greatly appreciated Ventucky.
We asked a local "Chummer" if he would like to join us, but I think he's got something else going on that weekend. Should be a great time.

Shoot me a PM with your email/phone and I touch base with you regarding the local attractions...... Regarding the race, it you're going to do this you'll need to contact Susan @ PBYC and let her know so they don't cancel it.... Her email is [email protected]. The registration for the Milt is looking pretty bleak - I guess closing the 405 that weekend is creating some havoc...... | | | Re: Milt Ingram Trophy Race

Posts: 1,304 Gulf Coast relocated from Cali... | What can you tell me about the tripoint race? Leave the spin pole in the cat box. It's usually a little beamy to the first platform, then turn up to the arches, then hug the island, hug the island, hug the island, oh, did I mention hug the island? Round the west end and enjoy the ride! It's a beam reach, rocket ship ride back to Ventura. The 18HT is going to have it's hands full... no volume in the bows, tall rig and a low rear cross beam. My prediction? N6.0 wins...if you don't let Nazisailor Schwartz get too far ahead of you before the west end. Stay close to the island on the back side..incase I forgot to mention that. Not doing that has f'd me more than once in that race.

If the wind is honking; which it usually is for this race, this a full on drag race and a exceptionally enjoyable event to the point of being a beach cat religious experience. Yeup I'll agree this race has 6.0 with that mammoth jib written all over it!!!!! As for enjoying the ride of the west end......here ya go ![[Linked Image]](http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr269/nacradriver/DSCN1864.jpg)

Posts: 337 Arizona | I dont carry a NA Jib, I have a self tacker. The 5.8 is an NA with a spin AND A HOOTER. You heard it! I'll still kick his a$$ though. HT is pretty even with me single handing on most points of sail, but points way higher than the 6.0, Dosnt sound like that will help him here. With 2 up on a broad reach, he'll be crying UNCLE! I was hoping for a spin run back home! Are they thinking of bagging the race? are we the only boats thinking of entering? That would ruin my weekend totally! I better send off an email as you suggest. No other Cali boats entering? Cmon guys, Were coming all the way out there from Az to play in your back yard. None of you are as broke as me!

Posts: 1,403 | Bring your spin, two years ago we had some fluky wind and there was a spin run out to the island.
Could be coming back too if the wind gets light.....

Posts: 1,304 Gulf Coast relocated from Cali... | There are a bunch of pu$$ies in Santabarbara with cats but all they do is stand by them on the beach and talk about sailing. I think I've only seen one of them on the water. I guess that's what Cali has become...a bunch of virtual sailors.

Posts: 337 Arizona | Yea, Im pretty sure that these boats will be pretty close if the wind is up. Each has its strong points and it will be an interesting day on the water. We are all very good friends and sail together whenever we can. We are hoping that this will be the first triple stack trip of many. Now, How about some of you Cali Cats hitting the water with us. We are going to hit the tripoint saturday, and the wine and roses on sunday.

Make sure you put the 18HT on top, otherwise it will look like 3 day old road kill cat by the time you get to Ventura.
