Long story short I have a new impulse buy project to deal with. Its a Wharram Hitia 17, it does not have a rig and I am looking for ideas on what to put on it. I don't really have any idea how much sail area would be appropriate.

I have Isotope, P19 and Hobie 16 rigs, I also have a 25' Infusion wingmast section and a 20' Hobie 17 section. Would these be way too much sail?

I think Wharram offers a rig similar to the Tiki 21, loose footed gaff rig.

All the Wharrams are loose, the hulls rock under the cross beams, fwiw.

Interesting. Are the sails flat or do they have shape to them?

Would it be sacreligious to use aluminum spars on a wharram?

Bacho,
just buy the plans, they are not so expensive and you'd be supporting a good cause (IMHO). Perhaps they would be willing to send you just the drawings you need for the rig and sails. Its not unheard of.
