I am looking to install CL258 and CL259 Clamcleats for Trap Harness (for crewing downwind with a spin up). Is there a shop that does that and is there a harness already with these that I can buy? I know that most likely there isn't but just wanted to hear your thoughts :-)

Beata,

Negative, that's a DIY mod for serious distance racers. I probably wouldn't do it myself, I use chicken lines for when the wave state is high but simply use a 1/4"/5-6mm S-hook that clips in the trapeze ring. Line runs from pintail into the rear beam on a bungee takeup and back out. My setup lets me get to the shroud, a bit far forward but there are cases where I have single trapped kite reached in very nasty chop (lots of big boats around in mixed fleet distance races, narrow harbors etc.) and I've also found that as long as the crew/helm are on it and neither get launched forward of the shroud recovery from a near pitchpole is possible, but of course the F16 runs out of bow quickly...

Hi Bea!

I'm also thinking about installing a setup similar to Sam's. I like the idea of connecting to the trap ring rather than the sailer for the simple fact that you are not 100% attached to the boat in case things go really bad.
