here are some other ideas in 1 gif file.
thinking about this sort of stuff is an alternative to thinking about my actual life.
maybe this class could produce boats that could be shipped on the plane. guys from Michigan could take with on the plane to the tropics. 2 piece mast, short hulls, who knows?
cheers

Here are two of my ideas (inspired by the previously posted ones) for F14 class logos. Note: any logo should be easily (and preferably cheaply) printable by a local shop on qualit vinyl with adhesive backing. Slap them on your sails and/or hulls and gain a little attention for the new class

I personally like the next one better than this, but they are extremely similar and I figured they both had merit.

Just like above, but with the "ormula" part removed. Ideally, the grey part would just be a circle to make them cheaper for shops to print out.

A class-like would be preferable for a hull!!

Jake,

I will pay for the first 50. Would you be able to ship to individuals from your location?

Thanks,

Wow...those look great! I can't make up my mind!

I will say, however, that the fewer colors they have the easier (i.e. less expensive) they are to produce. I would recommend sticking to two, relatively neutral/standard, colors. I like the black and the blue colors but I can't decide on which one (leaning toward #4).

Bob - yeah sure, we can do whatever you want - there's really no need to buy a bunch up front as my business is focused on short setup time, shorter runs, and quick lead times. I'll just be looking to get my cost out of them.

still like 8. The add'l cost on a 4" logo for the hulls will be very minor. The swoosh thing on 4 reminds me a bit of memorial day on the beach... not that there's anything wrong with that! plus, what we pick will wind up on a web site somewhere.

vote on it?

Jake,
I can change them to whatever colors they want. You would just need to let me know what files works best for you, resolution, size and CYMK or RGB etc etc.

I can pretty much give you whatever you need.

Guys, just let me know which one(s) you want or if something needs to be tweeked.

What would #8 look like with a black "14"? I like them all!- it won't be too much trouble to make it that way. For sake of comparison, I listed them all here: (I'm STILL leaning to #4)

Jake,
Doesn't multicolors cost more. And when the sun hits the sail no one can see colors anyway. It would seem to me that it would be easier and more economical to have all black, all blue, or whatever, and stamp them out.

Jake, I'm with you. I like #4, only because the parts are separate and they can all be made black if necessary. As I mentioned to Tracie, if you put a color on a colored sail, the colored part may just disappear into the colored background. Black is the only thing that would totally stand out no matter what color the sail is. #4 could be done either way, color or black.

Don't the NAF-18s and the F-20s in Europe just have a small logo on the hulls? Do we need something on the sail?

My vote's a small #8 on the hull - leave the sail for the manufacturer or sail loft or sponsors if you have one...

The rules only require a small identifying logo near the clew of the mainsail and a measurement sticker near the beam on the inside of the hull. Most builder don't put F18 or F20 logo's on hulls or sails and often only use their own brand logo in the high part of the sail.

The two stickers are supplied with a valid measurement form.

Hey Tracie -

Am I crazy? I swear I remember the NAF-18 sticker being on everyone's stern, not on the sail...

You are not crazy.
The NAF18 stickers are affixed to the hull near the stern. I might also add that they are in color.
No logos on sails, just a stamp for certification is on the sails.

It makes a LOT more sense to put it on the hull -- especially since some people may have several different sails.

Maybe we can affix a 4x6" sticker to the sails at 24" up from the clew and 18" in from the leech? Some of our hulls are pretty small in the stern. I'm going to put a full logo on the sail up high for all to see!

With Tracie's 3 logos, I like the one with the purple swoosh!

Jake, what would be the best size for that one around the 4x6 size. And of course, a much larger one for a big sail logo?

another idea here.
there doesn't seem to be a rule of where to put a class insignia, or if there has to be one at all.
a good logo should still look good in 1 color though.
this one is proly too complicated, but i like the idea of 2 bars.

Bob, if the one you are talking about with the "swoosh" is #4 in that group of Tracy's on the previous page, that's the one I like, too. The reason is that it can be used all black or all some other color or parts of it different colors. A lot more flexibility since nothing is overlapping anything else. Also makes it easier to read from a distance.

Mary,

That's the one. It will be the last one on the page I posted with all three logos on it.
That one is okay too for reason you stated.

I'll be so excited if my design gets used for the class! I might have to learn to sail on a F14.

Okay, I finally found the page with the three. I was looking for an attachment or an in-line and I didn't notice the link to the logos. Couldn't figure out what three logos people were talking about.

For the benefit of dense people like me, I hope the choices are going to be made more clear before a vote is taken.

I want one high up and showy. Gotta be P-R-O-U-D of our fierce li'l boats.

We could have an "official" F14 logo for the hulls, and allow whatever we want on the sails...

Not the best idea but still an idea.

Be nice if it was the same, just a small one and a larger one.
If it gets too big it won't fit on my tiny little sail.

How about something pretty simple? I'm sure someone could draw it with a better font, but I have to use MS Paint. See attached

I'd have to work on that. Not something I could throw together while working.

You just wait.
You're going to walk down to the beach one summer afternoon and find your boat plastered with pink-frilly-girly stickers.
Power Puff girls and everything.

Bob - Glad that was a joke 'cause I don't know if I would be able to pull it off!

Aw, c'mon, Jake! The last time I saw you race, it was in Hartsville--you should have put one of your graphics on the bottom of your tramp so we could all see your work!

Having said that, maybe I should order something for the bottom of my tramp at Hartwell!
