Hi, We would like to have a formula 20 long distance event this summer. For the boats that don't fit f20, such as Tornado and Mystere 6.0XL (10' wide) we were thinking of having them do a delayed start. How much should the delay be?

I will give more info about the event once we finalize it.

Why a delayed start. It is not a persuit race is it ?

Just use the Handicap to work out the results at the end.

Hi Dave

Would suggest running boats per classification -
Formula 16s--F-18s -Formula 20 etc -
If enough entrants are in then seperate starts ,-
If you have a group of diverse boat types then score them by class inc all Formula classes and also in total rating system of your choise -ISAF tEXEL -or Portsmth.

Formula 20s as defined would be basically L-20 ft or less -
main 215 and jib 60 or equal -boat weight 390 or more -
spin sizes 270 ,--or the NE size for stock existing 6/0s or H-20s etc .
Boats entered in the event that are longer shorter or larger beam etc should be scored seperately .
Some abbreviated rules to begin should be up soon with some support and backing of boat mfg.

I would love to travel over for the race -
though promised to get a local fleet going this year more kids oriented ,-but hope to travel out to a few distance races --preferably Formula 20 events or classes where starting up and available .
Get us a race NOR -and info --thanks PP Dave
ALL THE BEST -good sailing
Carl
