When people tell me to name my catamaran after my girl, I simply tell them...

"I'd be insane to name something thats 8 feet wide after my girlfriend"

Then you name it "My Girl" That solves it, you never have to change the name (of the boat)

I wonder if he followed the proper re-naming procedures for the boat.

Its getting pretty hard to find a virgin to urinate on your bows these days :P

I don't think it matters... he's doomed anyway from the looks of it!

This reminds me of the tradition of the commercial fishermen in my hometown: They name their fishing boat after their mother-in-law.

Hi Jake, I've used it the "photo of the day" on our club web site - hope that's OK...

Or he could come up with "it's an abbreviation".
Like " Lake Area Race District Association"
or "Lazy As_ Retired Dad Association. or something like that.

The best boat name I ever saw was from back in the mid 80's, a big IOR boat (50 foot custom boat I think) owner/racer from the west coast named his FUJIMO. Well, at that time there were several other oriental type name big boats, (Tsunami, etc.) so everyone assumed it was some Japanees word for big wind or something like that.

Sailing World (Yacht Racing/Cruising back then I think) did an interview with the owner, at the end, they asked him what Japanees word that was...he said "It's not Japanees, it's for my X wife, who hated my racing, it stands for: F U Jane, I'm Moving Out!" Priceless...

When my son was 6 and crewing on my Hobie 18, my wife called the boat Child Abuse, thus team Child Abuse was born. Later, when I got an Inter 20 and constantly asked her to sail with me, (she hates sailing) she named that one "Blow Me"...for obvious reasons.

My next one will be FUBIMO, because her name is Beth...
