Just spoke to Geert and Raymond (Taipan F16), who are at Texel doing the Dutch open. Two races today. Light winds (small force 3 = about 8 knots) with some considerable surf. I'm told it was difficult to get out through the surf. Geert and Raymond are enjoying the the sunshine and generally good conditions. About 30 to 40 boats are doing the Texel Dutch open. Geert and Raymond ended around 2/3rd of the fleet from the leaders. (They are racing of the same handicap as the F18's). In the second race they started relatively close to a Stealth F16 and a Spitfire and stayed at the same distance (couple 100 meter) for the duration of that race. So overall speed seemed to be very comparable. The Stealth was sailed by Pete and Dee McDowell. Looks like they met eachother on the beach as Geert told me they were Irish before I could tell him that bit of info.

Looks like tomorrow will be much of the same conditions.

I'll try to give another small update tomorrow.
